Spencer Taylor

March 29, 1932 - July 8, 2011

Spencer L. Taylor died July 8, 2011. He was born March 29, 1932 in McCamy, TX to Jack and Leona Taylor. Spencer served our country in the Marines and then went to work in the oil field where he spent the majority of his career travelling throughout the United States as well as overseas. After retirement from Amoco, he went on to work various jobs where he could be with people, ending with working for the railroad in KS. Spencer was a wonderful friend to many, and never failed to bring light and a smile to all he encountered. Surviving are his wife, Eleanor, of Pratt, Ks; two daughters, Ann Brown and husband David, of Aruba, and Becky Williamson and Bryan Cartwright of Pratt, Ks; seven grandchildren, Amy Phipps, Jennifer Renee Helser, Dean Ewing, Stacy Grizzaffi, Taylor Brown, Terry Williamson and Jamie Steyn; fourteen great-grandchildren, and “Papa” to many others. He was preceded in death by his son, David; sister, Joyce Taylor, and brother, Aaron Taylor. A service to celebrate the life of Spencer will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday July 23, 2011, at Larrison Mortuary in Pratt, KS where friends and family are encouraged to share a special memory of how Spencer touched their lives. If attending, please dress casually. The family requests that contributions be made to the Pratt Public Library instead of sending flowers.
