Myra Jane Sutton

February 21, 1932 - January 6, 2016

Myra Sutton of Allen, TX went to be with the Lord January 6, 2016 at the age of 83. She was born on February 21, 1932 in Turon, KS to Glen Joseph Lamont and Sarah Margaret (Sadie) Reynolds Lamont, and she was the last of five children. Myra spent her childhood in Turon, where she graduated high school, and earned her BS in Education in 1954 from Emporia State College in Emporia, KS. She married Kenneth B. Sutton in Turon on June 18, 1955, and during their 60 years of marriage, they lived in Kansas, New Mexico, California and Texas. While living in Premont, TX, Myra also attended Texas A&I in Kingsville, TX and earned a second degree in Education in 1972. Myra taught elementary school for 40+ years, and she truly cared for her students. Myra is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Sutton; and son, Craig Sutton, and wife, Amy, of Allen, TX; grandchildren, Zachary Sutton of Las Vegas, NV; Austin Sutton of Oklahoma City, OK; and Lindsey Sutton of El Paso, TX; sister, Mildred Lamont Johnson of Midlothian, VA; and many loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Valeria Ann Sutton; brothers, Paul Lamont of Decatur, AL and Joe Lamont of Hutchison, KS; and sister Patricia Lamont Royce of Langdon, KS. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 11, 2016 at 1:00pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pratt, KS. Interment will follow at Turon Cemetery in Turon, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in care of Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt, KS.
