Markoleta Padgett

Markoleta Padgett, 92, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014. Marky was born September 6, 1921 to Frank and Genereuse (Catte) Miner in Lyons, Kansas. Marky graduated from East High in Wichita, KS in 1939. She was the office manager for Penka Accounting in Turon, KS until 2012. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pratt, KS. She also served on the board of the Turon Senior Center. Marky lived in Turon from 1950 to 2013, spending the last few months with sons in Farmerville,LA. Marky was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Treva Crossley. Survivors include sons Gary E. Padgett (daughter-in-law Gerrie) and Bruce L. Padgett; grandchildren Scott Jehle of Rose Hill, KS, Michelle Padgett of Overland Park, KS, Kimberly Valderas of Weslaco, TX, and J. Drew Padgett of San Diego, CA; and 13 great-grandchildren. Marky was always inquisitive, an avid reader, and with the help of her faith and a wealth of family and friends, she enjoyed a full life. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt, KS 67124. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pratt, KS at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2014 with Rev. Floyd McKinney officiating. Interment will be at the Turon Cemetery, Turon, KS, followed by a luncheon at the Turon Senior Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Turon Community Library, to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or to Catholic Charities.
