Topeka - George E. Axline, 84, peacefully passed away in his sleep on March 14, 2017 in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on May 4, 1932 at Fort Worth, Texas. George was the son of George Bates and Mabel Randle Axline. He was a graduate of Pratt High School, Pratt Community College, and Wichita State University. A Pratt, Kansas resident most of his life, he was retired from the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks as Chief of Administrative Services Division. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. George was a member of the Pratt Presbyterian Church, of which his Great Grandfather was the founding minister, and was a long time Financial Secretary, Deacon and Elder. He was also a past member of the Pratt Elks Lodge and, being an avid golfer, had belonged to the Park Hills Country Club. George remained loyal to his beloved Fighting Frogs and was past treasurer of the Pratt High School Alumni Association. His and his wife Lorraine, enjoyed square dancing and were members of the Pratt Promenaders. On February 1, 1954, he married Sydney Rainey at Enid, Oklahoma. He later remarried Lorraine Baker, at Pratt on December 31, 1970. They were married until her death in January 2016. Survivors include daughter Cynthia (Cyndi) Renner (Keith), Topeka, Kansas, Pam Plank, Enid, Oklahoma, step-daughter, Janet Bingham (David), Springfield, Missouri, and step-son, Wallace (Wally) Baker, Canon City, Colorado., two sisters, Ann Slief , Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Kay Smith, Sublette, Kansas, seven grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Carol Wilson, and wife Lorraine. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt, KS. Funeral will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Pratt Presbyterian Church with Pastor Stephen Wing presiding. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt, KS. Memorial may be given to the Pratt High School Alumni Association Scholarship Fund or the Pratt Presbyterian Church in care of Larrison Mortuary.
