Elizabeth Dicke

Nashville – Elizabeth Caroline Dicke, age 89, died June 21, 2011 at Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita, KS. She was born on November 10, 1921 at Pratt, Kansas to Fred D. and Blanch (Dellinger) Helmke. Elizabeth married Alvin Herman Dicke on August 24, 1941 in Nashville, KS. He preceded her in death on August 17, 2008. Elizabeth and Alvin lived on a farm in Nashville. In the 1960’s she was organist at St. John Lutheran Church in Nashville and she taught Beginners Class of Sunday School for many years. She was Secretary at Strongs Insurance in Nashville for 30 years. She was later a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Pratt. She loved flowers and gardening. Survivors include a son Marlin and wife Lana Dicke of Springfield, Missouri, a daughter Mary Ann and husband Wayne Kerr of Wichita, Kansas, two brothers Dietrick Helmke of Wichita, KS and Loren Helmke of Kansas City, KS, a sister Ethel Westerman of Pratt, KS, one granddaughter Susan (Russ) Koester and four great-grandchildren Cody, Alyson, Brianne and Kyle. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alvin, a brother Raymond Helmke, and four sisters Irene Engelhardt, Iona Bridgess, Mildred Morisse and Frieda Hawley. Visitation will be Thursday and Friday 9:00 am - 8:00 pm at Larrison Mortuary 300 Country Club Road, Pratt, KS. Family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Larrison Mortuary. Funeral Service will be held Saturday June 25, 2011 at 10:30 am at St. John Lutheran Church in Nashville, KS with Pastors Jeffery Duncan and Dennis Fangmeyer presiding. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Nashville, KS. Memorials may be made to the St. John Building Fund in care of the mortuary.
