Dean E. Hemphill Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Dean Eugene Hemphill, 86, of Byers, KS died Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Pratt Rehabilitation and Residence Center, Pratt, KS. He was born on July 14, 1928 in Byers, Kansas, the son of William Herman Hemphill and Audrey (Cline) Hemphill. On April 8, 1948 he married Kathleen (Henning) Hemphill in Macksville, KS. She survives. Dean was a member of the Byers School Board, the Iuka Co-op Board, the Pratt County Soil Conservation Board, and the Pratt County Representative on the PRMC Hospital Board. Surviving in addition to his wife Kathleen are two sons, Mark (Verda) Hemphill of Newton, KS, Dick (Sherry) Hemphill of Pratt, KS; three daughters, Brenda (David) Moon of Derby, KS, Debbie (Gary) Goeller of Benton, KS, Susan (Bob) Steiger of Dallas, TX; Eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers, John (Pat) Hemphill of Melbourne, FL, Larry Hemphill of Ponder, TX; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Hemphill of Sun City West, AZ. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Jewell Haning, and three brothers, Harry, Dale and an infant brother. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt, KS 67124. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.at Larrison Mortuary, Pratt, KS with Kent Lamb officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Plains Cemetery, Byers, KS. Memorials may be made to South Wind Hospice or Pratt County 4-H in care of the mortuary.
