Dale G. Parsons

May 25, 1936 - May 22, 2017

Dale G. Parsons, 80, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 at Pratt Regional Medical Center in Pratt. He was born May 25, 1936 on a farm south of Cheney to Wallace Cicero and Florence Marie (Gregory) Parsons. Dale attended school at Mt. Pleasant School in Sedgwick County from 1st-6th grade, then Belmont School, south of Kingman for 7th and 8th grade and attended high school at Adams School in Kingman County. Dale worked at Belmont Co-operative from 1953-1955 running a grain elevator. From 1955-1960 he worked in Anthony as a book keeper at the Co-operative. Then in 1960 he went to work at the Cairo Co-operative where he became General Manager and spent 41 years until his retirement in March of 2001. Upon retirement he did go back to work as an interim manager at Fowler Co-operative and also worked at Prairie King LLC in Pretty Prairie. He was a member of Kansas Jaycees, Lifetime member of Pratt Elks Lodge #1451, Trinity Evangelical Church, Board of Kansas Farmers Service, Director of Kansas Grain Dealers Association, Served on the Co-Mark Board in Cheney. He received Boss of the Year award in 1985. On September 10, 1953 he married Mary Kathleen (Ioerger). To this union 3 children were born. On October 23, 1993 he married Diana (Shultz Steinert) Parsons in Augusta. Dale is survived by his wife, Diana; daughter, Ruby (Rocky) Pierce of Pratt; sons, Gene (Jan) Parsons of Pratt and Michael Parsons of Derby; stepsons, Chad (Leslie) Steinert of Indiana and Lance (Shelia) Steinert of Pratt; grandchildren, Cheri Eck Snow, Chris (Heather) Eck, Brock (Allison Hatfield) Pierce, Jill (Steve) Parsons Makuka, Judy Parsons, Matthew (Sarah Jackson) Parsons, Mitchell Parsons, Taylor Parsons, Brandon (Nicole) LaMar, Thomas (Stormi Leyba) LaMar, Ciara (Rob Moseman) Steinert, Jordon Steinert and Tyler Steinert; great grandchildren, Austin Spangle, K.K. Eck, Grady Snow, Ziva, Juliana and Ashlinn LaMar, and Hallie, MaKenzie and Breckyn Eck; brother, Donald (LaVon) Parsons; brothers in-law, Darrell (Bobbi) Shultz and Doug (Sandy) Shultz; sisters in-law, Carole Shultz, Dorothy Wall and Darlene Eiland; niece, Victoria Gardner; nephew, Johnnie Don Parsons; special friends throughout his lifetime, Don (Dollie) Hayes, Donnie (Connie) Dietz, Ross (Jeannie) Hoener, Clyde Baker and Warren Hatzenbuehler. Preceded in death by his parents and baby sister, Nadine Parsons. Cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the book Wednesday, May 24 from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt. Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Trinity Evangelical Church, Pratt with Pastor Doug Enick presiding. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Cairo Cemetery, Cairo. Memorials may be made to Pratt County 4-H Foundation or Trinity Evangelical Church in care of Larrison Mortuary.
