Arthur "Art" S. Junger

Arthur "Art" S. Junger, 96, of Medicine Lodge, KS, died Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at Attica Long Term Care, Attica, KS. He was born on November 26, 1923 in Sand Springs, OK, the son of Arnold A. Junger and Beatrice M. (Freynuth) Junger. Art served his country during WWII, in the U.S. Army. He received several heroic honors including a Silver Star and a Purple Heart for his actions during the war. He returned to the states after the war and married his life-long love, Maxine Knoettgen of Salina, KS. Maxine preceded him in death on December 18, 2013. Surviving are their two sons, John Junger and Eric "Rick" Junger of Attica, KS; a brother, Robert Junger and sister, Anna (Junger) Follett of Tulsa, OK; Many nieces and nephews. Art was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Walter, Ralph, James and Arnold J. and sisters, Agnes, Loretta, and Mary. Art was an active member in the Knights of Columbus and VFW in Medicine Lodge. He relocated in Medicine Lodge in the early 1960's and worked as a mechanic at the Mobil Oil Station on Hwy. 160. Art then worked at Strong's Appliance Store as a service technician until his retirement. He then became a part-time, self-employed service man for many years. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 2, 2020 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at Larrsion Funeral Home, 120 E. Lincoln, Medicine Lodge, KS 67104. Vigil service will be on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at 7:00 pm at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medicine Lodge, KS. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medicine Lodge, KS with Father Mark Brantley presiding. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge, KS with military honors by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
