Alice Mae Rodgers

Alice Mae Rodgers was born on November 10, 1919 in Nash, Oklahoma to Henry K. and Mary Marie (McDermed) Howard and passed away on December 16, 2017 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains in Dodge City, Kansas at the age of 98. She attended school in Medicine Lodge and graduated from Sharon in 1937. She married Warren L. "Bud" Rodgers on October 5, 1938 in Anthony, Kansas. They made their home in Medicine Lodge and were blessed with six children. She was a member the First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge, where she was a Sunday School Teacher for 23 years and was involved in many other church activities. She was a member of Eastern Star and Self Culture Club in Medicine Lodge. She lived in Medicine Lodge all of her life until the age of 90 when she moved to Dodge City to be closer to her children. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time with them and especially enjoyed playing pitch with her great grandchildren and she always won. She loved to dance and spent many fun evenings going to dances with her friends. She was very proud to call Medicine Lodge her home and always told people about the Peace Treaty Pageant. She always let people know that she was a Prairie Flower in the first Peace Treaty Pageant. Mae is survived by two sons: Terry (Sandy) Rodgers, Garden City and Randy (Helen) Rodgers, Hays, two daughters: Sue VanDolah, Dodge City and Jan (Ben) Neier, Dodge City, one daughter-in-law: Judy (Jim) Bradley, Monte Vista, CO., nine grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren: Cindy and Jim Ryan, Tanner, Vaughn & Kendall, Angie and Wally Stimpert, Ashten, Aubrey & Wyatt, Richard and Becky Rodgers, Deidra & Tamra, Carie Rodgers and Wayland Myers, Madeleine and Emily, Todd & Erin VanDolah, Chance & Kylie Jo, Brent and Ami Whitaker, Brayden & Brier, Brook and Brad Houchen, Blythe & Barrett, Chris and Raechelle Rodgers, Cheyenne, Jathan, Jewelia & Sinjin, Kevin Rodgers, two sister-in-laws, Jo (Bill) Wheat and Ruthie Rodgers and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Husband: Warren (Bud) Rodgers, Infant Son: Tommy Wayne Rodgers, Son: Jerry Lee Rodgers, Parents: Henry K. Howard, Mary Marie McDermed Howard, Step-Mother: Evelyn P. (Pearce) Howard, Sisters: Wilma Kusch, Glenna Lee Howard, Ruthie Thomas,& Patti Tate, Brothers: Gordon Howard, & Wayne Howard. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from Noon to 7:00 p.m., with family present from 5-7 p.m. at Larrison Funeral Home, 120 E. Lincoln, Medicine Lodge, KS 67104. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge, KS with Pastor Tom Walters officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge, KS. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church in care of Larrison Funeral Home, 120 E. Lincoln, Medicine Lodge, KS 67104.
